5 inspired workspace ideas from our favorite bloggers
Recently, we asked what your ideal workspace says about you. (And hopefully you used our infographic to find out!) Whether you’re a Workhorse, Jack (or Jill) of All Trades or even a Comfort King (or Queen), there are a million different ways to make your workspace efficient, productive and, most important, uniquely you.
Because kids and adult students alike are back in class, now’s the perfect time to give your work environment a bit of attention. Here are some ideas for an inspired workspace from a few of our favorite bloggers.
Be a visionary by embracing color
We don’t know why there’s this perception that a productive workspace must be stark and colorless. Perhaps people think they’ll be less distracted? Either way, we think color can be inspiring, which is why we love this colorful office makeover from Kristen of Capturing Joy. Her peacock, pink, green and yellow office couldn’t be more cheerful, and what’s even better is how she repurposed items from other rooms of the house (or leftovers from other DIY projects) to add color throughout her home office.
Accessorize to be productive at your desk and away
Krystal of Krystal’s Kitsch knows it’s not just about where you work but also about how you work! Apps on her phone (like Workflowy and Clear) and an old-school paper calendar help her stay productive and get organized both at her workspace and away. Adorable desktop accessories help, too!
Make use of even tiny spaces
When her kitchen no longer made sense for a workspace and there wasn’t an office or spare room for her projects, Amy of Mom Spark literally moved into a secret hideaway — the small space under the stairs. She was sure to measure before buying a crafting table (smart move, Amy!) and then went UP the wall with her storage solutions. How cute is that painted pegboard?
Don’t stop at the surface; keep drawers neat and tidy, too
Sure, the top of your desk may be organized, but what about the inside? Christina from Christina’s Adventures found some colorful file folders and old silverware holders for organizing her paperwork, coupons, stamps, binder clips and more. So thrifty!

Keep yourself motivated with quotes and other art
How adorable is this “YAY” art on the wall? I doubt it’s possible to be unhappy about working if you have that fun tidbit and cool paint job on the wall. Check out the rest of Alicia’s office on Vintage Revivals.

If you’re really inspired to revamp your workspace, head over to Pinterest! We just finished our Dream Workspace contest and you won’t believe some of the great ideas people came up with. A few of our favorites:
- Double-duty office furniture. This chest is customized for filing, a bulletin board and office supply organization all in one. So cool.
- A “family command center” on wheels? Sign me up. That’s one versatile workspace.
- Awesome, inspiring world map wall art for the travel lover. Aren’t you just dying to mark off all the places you’ve been?
- Adding a little retro flavor to the office with a vintage wooden printer’s tray, found objects and natural elements. There’s so much personality in this workspace — I love it!
